Talking over the first graduate, we’re starting the student blog afresh.
We hope you’ll enjoy the hot topics we are going to introduce each week.
This week we’d like to report on a fashion trade show where three Bunka graduates join to show under the respective label, YELL, YONETA and kawala.
YELL’s designer Kazuaki Hanamura, a graduate of Bunka’s evening course of Fashion Creation, presents androgynous clothes and accessories in various materials, colors and designs. They are all hand-made.
The Mods coat by YELL. The roses printed on the back give the coat a soft look.
Aoshima? No.
Hanamura’s strongest item is a pair of studded sneakers made in collaboration with Deadman. They will look nice both on men and women.
Toshinori Yoneta, a graduate of the Intensive Garment Creation course, launched YONETA. The concept of the brand is “Wear the way you like it” : the items can be worn two ways. The print reads, “good day to”, which means it’s a good day to something. Nice phrase!
These accessories were made by a friend in response to Yoneta’s request to make something to exhibit at his show.
Yoshinori Yamamoto, a graduate of the Advanced Course of Fashion Design, shows under the label kawala. He says his designs are not particularly based on fixed concept, but, he continues, they could be reflecting his frustration in his childhood when he wasn’t allowed to play the TV games.
Yamamoto found his tent very difficult to make since this was his first attempt.
Above is the mannequin in Yamamoto’s booth. Although Yamamoto usually uses fabrics, this time he has chosen knit for his in order to give it some body. It looks cool!
Since this was our first experience to interview designers, we felt nervous at the beginning. But all of them were very friendly and we talk to them completely relaxed. It was also inspirational to meet those creators working with strong incentive. Thanks you all having us. Let us give them big cheers!
